Our faculty member, Dr. Samet Çinkaya, has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK “2219 – Overseas Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Program” to conduct a project titled “A Machine Learning Approach to Identifying Quantitative Trait Loci Related to Health in Cattle” at the University of Liverpool. As part of his project, Dr. Samet Çinkaya will conduct postdoctoral research for 12 months at the Institute of Infection, Veterinary and Ecological Sciences within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at the University of Liverpool. This project aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of machine learning methods compared to classical GWAS approaches, particularly through the use of health data in dairy cattle. The project is expected to make significant contributions to determining strategies for increasing productivity in animal husbandry, reducing disease risks, and improving herd health.
