“AKU Robilsa Team in the Final at Teknofest 2024”
Under the supervision of Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine faculty member Prof. Dr. A. Fatih Fidan, the Robilsa team, which includes AKU graduate students and Afyonkarahisar Dumlupınar Bilsem teachers Savaş Özbey and Hidayet Kılcan, achieved a great success in Teknofest 2024 Agricultural Technologies Competition and became a finalist in Teknofest 2024 with their project titled “Determination of Wild Animal Population with Artificial Intelligence Supported Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Capable of Thermal Imaging”.
This innovative project, which offers significant contributions to the protection of natural life and has great potential in terms of sustainable agriculture and ecosystem management, focuses on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system that detects the population of wild animals using thermal imaging technology and is supported by artificial intelligence. Within the scope of the project, which overcomes the inadequacies of traditional methods and provides accurate and effective counting of wild animals, lower cost, fast and reliable data collection and analysis methods have been developed compared to traditional methods. The innovative approaches developed in the project offered significant advantages in the protection and management of wildlife and contributed to the sustainable management of natural resources.
